End-of-service gratuity calculator

End-of-service gratuity is a contractual promise, not a statutory right. Maldivian law mandates no benefit at all, so anything paid is a policy the company has chosen. This calculator works out what that comes to at different rates.

Set the daily-wage basis and the days-per-year rate that your contracts use — the product itself will track years of service from the joining date. The calculator works it out at the point the employee leaves.

Whether this is the basic alone or the basic plus fixed allowances is a contractual question, not a statutory one.

30 is the common convention. Some contracts use 26 working days instead, which produces a larger daily wage and a larger benefit.

Part years count — enter 4.5 for four years and six months.

End-of-service gratuity

MVR 0.00

Nothing is due. Maldivian law mandates no end-of-service benefit, so this stays at zero until a company sets a rate of its own.

Monthly wage15,000.00
Daily wage÷ 30500.00
Days accrued0 × 4.5 years0
Gratuity payable0.00

This is the honest default, not a broken calculator. Pick a rate above to model a benefit your company has actually promised — but a Maldivian employer with no such clause in its contracts owes nothing here.

An estimate of a contractual benefit, not a statement of entitlement. Accrued leave paid out on separation, notice pay and any final-month adjustments are separate calculations.

What a calculator cannot tell you, and a payroll has to

There is no statutory end-of-service gratuity in the Maldives. The Employment Act does not mandate one, so anything paid is a contractual promise the company has made — set it, and the product carries it.

The daily wage is the figure your contract defines it as. Whether it is the basic divided by 30, or the basic plus fixed allowances, is a policy decision this calculator cannot make for you.

Part years are pro-rated by the years figure you enter. Enter 4.5 for four years and six months.

Gratuity is not the same as unused leave. Accrued leave paid out on separation is calculated separately, from the leave balance.

This calculator runs the same arithmetic as PayrollMath.Gratuity inside HumanR, re-checked against the product’s own test cases on every build. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored.
